There is no right time for anyone. There is only now and the frightening reality of that first step. A movement towards something. Out of the heavy air where you sit right now. I know this, that the time to make a change will never come to you. You will reach for it.

It will be scary. Your arms will shake. You will feel an earthquake of terror so deep in your guts that it could split you into continents. Yes. Let it. This is what growth feels like. This is what ecstasy feels like.

Let me explain…

There is a sutra in the Kundalini Yoga tradition that goes like this: When the time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off. There are five sutras of the Aquarian Age that Yogi Bhajan gave to help us through these stressful, powerful times. This is one of them.

Time has sped up. Evolution must speed up. Energy is quickening. There is an immense amount of pressure. We are being squeezed so tightly. It’s an energetic, psychic squeeze. Like we are passing through a very very small canal. This pressure makes us crazy. We get start wars. We go to battle gripping our fears. We go to bed angry. We wake up angry. We loose sleep. We are sad. We are hopeless. We are disconnected. This pressure can feel like this. It can push us right under.

But there’s another option. This pressure is just that – pressure. It is not bad or good. It’s just energy. We can decide to be under it, or on top of it. I choose to be on top of it. Because up here, we have something to push off of. We have a swelling, a surge, a rising so great it could shift the poles. It could move a mountain range. It could wisen all hearts. All hearts. This is the tide I choose.

It sounds nice, doesn’t it? It isn’t easy. You have to decide to move. You have to decide to make that first step, and then the second, and then the third. And every day you wake up and you must decide to take that first step again. I know, sometimes it feels like all you do is take that first step. I know. It doesn’t matter. If you want to be above the pressure, you must keep taking it. Keep moving so that the pressure begins to move WITH you. Keep moving so your terror can rise and fall. Keep moving so that you can keep walking, through the terror and into day. Through the terror and on top of the wave.

There is a space on the other side of the fear, the terror, the pain, the pressure and the only word we have for it is ecstasy. The sages talked about it. The yogis talked about it. It’s real. And we have never been closer to it. But you must decide to be on top of it. You must decide to take that first step. You must decide to keep moving.

When the time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off.
